The Department of Haematology which is situated in the KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Academic Complex at Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital (IALCH) offers a tertiary/quaternary level of haematology service to the province of KZN. The laboratory serves a population of over 11 million people and provides most of the specialized laboratory Haematology testing for KZN. Additionally, the department oversees the clinical haematology service at King Edward Vlll Hospital. The Department currently has a Head of Department, 6 pathologists, 5 full-time registrars and 2 intern medical scientists.
